Entrepreneur candidates, Express Entry and Labour Impact got invited by Prince Edward Island in the latest draw held on March 21st. Monthly draws are held by Prince Edward Island for those immigration candidates who have already submitted an EOI to its immigrant nominee program, i.e. PEI PNP.
Prince Edward Island is among the eleven Canadian provinces and territories that participate in Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program. A certain number of immigration candidates are nominated through Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program to apply for Canadian permanent residence every year.
A total of 150 candidates got invited in Prince Edward Island’s Express Entry, Business Impact immigration and Labour Impact categories in the March 21st draw.
The 131 Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates who got invited in this draw can apply to Prince Edward Island’s provincial nominee program to apply for Canadian permanent residence but the province did not give a breakdown of these invitations.
The 19 entrepreneur candidates who got invited through the Business Impact (Work Permit Stream category) can apply to the PEI Provincial Nominee Program to get a letter of support for the temporary work permit.
Express Entry and Labour Impact invitations
Express Entry category of PEI is associated with the federal Express Entry system, which manages Canada’s leading economic immigration categories which are the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Federal Skilled Worker Class.
Express Entry candidates who want provincial nomination from PEI should complete an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the PEI PNP.
These profiles will be given an Expression of Interest score out of 100 based on aspects which include proficiency in English or French, work experience and education. The candidates with higher ranks are invited to apply for a provincial nomination through monthly draws.
Express Entry candidates who got a provincial nomination will be awarded an extra 600 points for their Express Entry ranking score.
PEI’s Labour Impact Category is not associated with the Express Entry system and is divided into 3 EOI-based streams which include Critical Workers, International Graduates, and Skilled Workers.
Candidates for these streams should be either working in PEI or possess an eligible full-time job offer from an employer in the province.
PEI’s Business Impact – Work Permit Stream is meant for eligible foreign entrepreneurs with management experience or business ownership who are interested in running a business in Prince Edward Island. The Work Permit stream functions on an EOI basis and the candidates with the lowest rank in the March 21st draw got a score of 110.
