The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has reached its provincial nomination allocation for 2018. Till now, OINP has invited a total of 6,600 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR). It has issued invitations to the applicants across various streams.

Ontario says it will continue to consider new applications and existing submitted applications, under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program’s nomination allocation for 2019, except the current paused Master’s Graduate Stream.

Ontario has not yet announced 2019 Nomination Allocation, but it’s for sure that the New Year will show an increase in the nomination allocations.

2018’s nominations allocations were 600 slots higher than the allocations of 2017 which was capped at a total of 6,000 nominations.

The admissions target for 2019’s provincial nomination program under the new multi-year immigration levels plan of the Federal government, is set at 61,000 which is an increase by 6,000 over 2018’s target of 55,000.

Human Capital Priorities Stream (HCP) Nominations Leads the Way

All the three express entry linked immigration streams, “Human Capital Priorities Stream, Skilled Trades Stream, and French Speaking Skilled Worker Stream” of Ontario have been active so far in 2018 by issuing a total of 6,411 nominations. They allow Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program to search for the potential applicants from the express entry pool of candidates who meet their eligibility criteria and can quickly integrate into the labor market of Ontario.

Among all, HCP has issued the most of the express-entry aligned nominations in 2018. Majority of them occurred in the first two months of 2018. HCP nominations have made the allocations to reach by 50% of Ontario’s total allocations for 2018 with a total of 3,534 invitations for Ontario’s provincial nomination for PR.

Important Change in Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program

Previously, candidates get only 14 calendar days to submit their complete application for provincial nomination to Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program, but all the three express entry-linked immigration streams of OINP saw a change for a nomination to be valid adjusted to 45 calendar days.

Now the express entry candidates have enough days in their hand to gather their documents and submit their complete application for provincial nomination to OINP.
