Ontario recorded 78,000 people employed in 2018 while its unemployment rate dropped by 0.2% to 5.4% which is the 2nd lowest rate among all the provinces of Canada.
British Columbia was the Canadian province that posted the lowest unemployment rate of 2018 at 4.4%. BC reported the number of people employed grew by 44,000 last year. According to the Canadian statistics, “1.8% employment rate of BC was double the national average.”
The Canadian province Saskatchewan also crossed the national average for 2018’s employment growth, with 11,000 more people employed in 2018 (growth by 1.9%). The province’s unemployment rate dropped by 0.9% points to 5.6%.
The employment growth grew by 163.000 last year nationally that’s a growth rate of 0.9%. This growth is entirely driven by gains in full-time work, as per Statistics Canada report.
According to Statistics Canada, these employment growth rates were recorded entirely in service industries. Social assistance and health care industries led with the employment growth rates of 74,000 people followed by building, business, and other support services with 59,000.
