There’s a sudden rise in Indian invites to Canada for Canada Permanent Residency, as per the year-end Express Entry Report 2017. Canada again benefited from Us’ loss. Canada is now the favoured destination for Indian immigrants because of its key economic migration flagship program. Canada’s Express Entry program invites top-ranked candidates under the country’s point-based immigration system for Canada Permanent Residency. This is now Canada’s flagship program for key economic migration. According to Canada’s point-based immigration program report, “a total of 86,022 invitations were sent in 2017 out of which nearly 42% i.e., 36,310 were Indian immigrants.” This total figure for 2017 was double than 2016 with a total figure of 33,782. Indian invites to Canada in 2016 was merely 11,037 which is increased by 200% in 2017.
Nearly 26,000 Indian out of 36,310 with occupations like designers, computer programmers, system analysts, software engineers, and university lecturers received PR in Canada. And this is all due to US’ tightened immigration laws.
According to Times of India report, the majority of immigrants were H-1B visa holders who waited in the US for a long time almost years to attain a green card. There are still around 3 lakhs Indians in the US who are waiting for a green card. The waiting period for Indians in the EB-2 category can be as much as 151 years. Even the Indian Consulting Firms have also lowered their applicant fillings for the US PR.
The Express Entry draws held periodically. As per the latest draw held on 2018, 3750 invitations were issued to candidates to apply for Canadian Permanent Residence with CRS scores of 451 or above. The CRS cut off threshold of 451 points is now a good news for those who want to move to Canada. Out of 86,022 Invitation to apply for PR, 45% i.e., 38,932 were sent to the candidates with CRS scores between 451 and 500 and 33,252 i.e. 39% were sent to the candidates with scores between 401 and 450.
