Expression of Interest Ranking System: Quebec - Akkam Overseas

New details on Expression of Interest ranking system were released by Quebec on 1st August 2018 that includes how candidates will be ranked and organized in the new skilled worker Expression of Interest Bank.

QSWP, the Quebec Skilled Worker Program candidates on submitting their profile to the new Expression of Interest Bank will be classified in 2 groups, one will include candidates who are living in Quebec, and meet specific criteria or candidates with a job offer. The other group will include candidates living outside of Quebec. Look below for more details on the regulations released on 1st August 2018.

Expression of Interest Ranking System – Details for the First Group

The 1st group is for the candidates who

  • Have a job offer in Quebec, or
  • Are Quebec’ resident with the goal of working and
    • Have an eligible degree from an educational institution of Quebec, and a work permit.
    • Are currently working as full-time, have a work permit that is valid for 12 months or more, and 6 months of full-time work experience.

Below are the 7 factors that are the basis of scores, the first group’ candidates will be ranked on:

  • Age
  • Quebec Diploma
  • The U.S or Canadian Work Experience
  • French language proficiency
  • Other languages’ knowledge
  • Education
  • Proficiency in French, and a spouse or a common-law partner’ education

Candidates will receive more points for the below “Skill Transferability” combinations:

  • Education combined with French Language proficiency (based on the highest score of either their own or their spouse’.)
  • Education combined with Canada’ or US’ Work Experience, and French language proficiency.
  • French Language proficiency combined with foreign work experience.
  • Work experience in Canada or US, and proficiency in the French language combined with foreign work experience.

Expression of Interest Ranking System – Details for the Second Group

Candidates will be ranked on the basis of scores obtained on the below 8 factors:

  • Age
  • Quebec Diploma
  • The U.S or Canadian Work Experience
  • French language proficiency
  • Other languages’ knowledge
  • Education
  • Proficiency in French, and a spouse or a common-law partner’ education
  • Training that Quebec has listed as in-demand

Candidates under this group will also receive extra points on the basis of “Skill Transferability” combinations listed the same in the first group.

Note – The point-structure for various factors and the skills combinations listed above for the two groups has not been detailed by Quebec yet.

Candidates on receiving the Invitation to apply for Quebec Selection Certificate CSQ will have to meet the passing scores required for the program based on the Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP) Points Grid.
