The Expression of Interest System (EOI) is now changed from “first-come-first-served application model” for Express Entry – International Skilled Worker sub-categories, as per the new announcement by the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). The new system will be effective from 16th July 2018 onwards.
The new Expression of Interest System will create an EOI profile using the online application system of Saskatchewan i.e., “OASIS” beginning on 16th July 2018. According to the new system, regular draws will happen from a pool of ranked candidates rather than occasional openings that prefer those who apply fast. The system will also bring Saskatchewan in line with other Provinces of Canada employing EOI systems.
Candidates need to complete an online form in the pre-application process. The online form will assess their eligibility for the sub-categories as per their selected criteria. Criteria can include a candidate’s language eligibility, skilled work experience, education and training, age and connections with the labour market of Saskatchewan. They also must have a work experience in any one of the occupations from in-demand occupations list of Saskatchewan.
The point assessment grid currently in effect will be the same for the International Skilled Worker Category of the SINP’s EOI System. Candidates scoring 60 out of 100 can enter and rank into the EOI pool as per their score. The highest-ranked candidates will get the invitation to apply through regular draws from the SINP’s pool.
Selection of the candidates scoring equal points will be prioritized on the basis their connections with Saskatchewan, SINP said. Connections here mean these candidates have past work experience, or have a close friend or relative in Saskatchewan, or have past student experience in Saskatchewan.
The candidates with the highest language scores and most work experience will be next after selection of the candidates with connections to Saskatchewan. SINP’s EOI webpage will show the attributes and score range of the selected candidates. It will not provide any information on the dates of draws.
Candidates in Express Entry will get additional 600 points under Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
SINP might limit the selection by occupation which will not let the applications exceed the employment demand and will select the applicants with positive employment prospects.
Candidates receiving ITAs will get the notification through email. Complete applications for the nomination will be submitted within 60 days of receiving the invitation. It will be done using the same login information for an EOI profile of the candidates.
