Alberta Introduces New Alberta Opportunity Streams (AOS)
Alberta has started accepting applications under the Self-Employed Farmer Stream from June 14 onwards. It will be a new Alberta Opportunity Stream AOS.
Candidates can apply under the new AOS without any employer support. Alberta’s Employer-Driven Stream and Strategic Recruitment Stream were closed on 14th June 2018, and are replaced by the new AOS.
To be eligible for the new AOS, candidates must be working in Alberta for full-time in an eligible occupation and must satisfy the minimum criteria for selection in residency and employment status, language, occupation, work experience, education, and income level.
The reason for the new changes as per AINP are as follows:
- Simplifying the process of application by creating new AOS.
- Opening up the program virtually to all the skills and professions in Alberta with more flexible trade skills.
- Ensuring the workers with personal, professional, and community ties to Alberta are prioritized to become permanent residents with a pathway to citizenship.
