2018 till now has proven its best time for Canadian immigration and will be doing its best in the coming months too for sure. A total of 9 Express Entry draws, and several numbers of intakes through the Provincial Nominee Program have shown their potential to intake immigrants. Quebec too made few changes to their immigration programs. So what’s next for the rest of the months remaining in 2018? Let’s get into the forecast for Canadian immigration this year.
Express Entry Draws
Immigrants majorly in 2018 are expected through Express Entry programs. The first quarter of 2018 has shown several Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for PR same as 2017. As per the latest and the largest draw in March 2018, the Express Entry Draw issued 3,750 invitations to candidates to apply for Canadian Permanent Residence with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores of 451 or above. It was 3,500 in 2017. There are high chances that the Express Entry draws are going to follow the same pattern.
Now for the rest of the year 2018, it’s expected that the Express Entry draws will have lower minimum CRS scores to reflect a larger number of ITAs. This way, Canada can for sure meet the immigration target which it has set at year beginning.
Provincial Nominee Programs
2018 has also shown several provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) intakes in its first quarter. New PNP streams were introduced by Manitoba and Alberta for attracting new immigrants to apply for their programs.
The rest months of 2018 is going to show similar activities and more provincial nominee programs can open up throughout the year to increase immigrant intakes.
Quebec province made some major changes in immigration programs in 2018. It made some immigration programs to be like the “Federal Express Entry System” with selection criteria as point-based.
There’s a possibility of reopening of intake of applications for the Skilled Worker Program before summer end. Around 5000 potential immigrants can apply for this program. After 15th August, the investment and business immigration streams might get opened for the new applications.
More Canadian Immigration Changes
On top of the above immigration updates, the Canadian minister announced some more changes in Family Immigration system which will shorten the processing time for sponsorship applications. As a result, 2018 will see easy family immigration.
With an increasing number of international students completing their graduation from Canadian universities, the Canadian government is increasing the number of applications for post-graduation work permits. As a result, the international students can stay and work in Canada after their schooling.
